My job is the absolute best when I get to hang out with wonderful people and Jordyn and Cole are two of the sweetest people in the world. I love wedding days, but engagements have my heart. Having a slow paced day with two people who don't have to focus on anything but being together really creates some magical moments. Jordyn and Cole were planning a winter wedding so for engagement photos we went the total opposite and headed to a beach in the middle of summer. Grand Haven, Michigan has my heart because my own engagement photos were done there and I knew Jordyn and Cole would love that town too. We headed downtown first to take a few with some architecture then started the long hike of Rosy Mound Natural Area to get down to the beach. I LOVE a good golden hour and was a little stressed this day because it was a particularly hazy month and I had a feeling we wouldn't see the sun much at all. After we hiked through the woods of Rosy Mound I was pleasantly surprised because while we didn't have the glow I like, the haze was creating an otherworldly scene (think something straight out of Star Wars). We got a couple gorgeous shots that look like another planet then headed to the water. The haziness did end up creating some beautiful diffused lighting for us which made it easier to shoot any direction we wanted. We played with a lot of movement and ended up right in Lake Michigan by the end.
