This engagement photo session is one of my favorite moments of all time. One of my best friends Mal contacted me to work out a sneaky proposal photoshoot because she was ready to propose to her girlfriend Dylana. We planned it all out for The Love Lock Bridge in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I kept my distance until they were in the correct position so Dylana wouldn't spot me. Once it was time I moved in quickly and she was so surprised by the whole thing! Mal brought a lock for them to place on the bridge after the proposal with a quote "planting flowers" from a poem Dylana had written.
After the proposal we decided to head to a gorgeous area in town with rainbows painted on the street and take more engagement photos. Their Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Fig, was a part of the whole event. Out of nowhere the weather took a turn and started raining. It was picking up fast and unexpected so we were completely unprepared to shoot in the rain and had to make it quick. Our very last shot is one of, if not the, most romantic engagement photo I've ever taken. It started to POUR and I had to make the quick decision to have Mal pull her car up, turn on the headlights, and hop out. The result is magical.
