There is certainly no shortage of great barn wedding venues in Michigan and SWJ Emerald Hills in Edmore, Michigan is one of them. I love shooting at this place! Great ceremony space, reception space, getting ready space. Tons of photo opportunities including a path between flowers, cute arbors, a tree swing, and fields. The front yard faces west so amazing golden hour photos are as easy as a short walk. Brooke and Chris are SO photogenic so them combined with an amazing wedding venue was almost too easy and this is one of my favorite galleries I’m most proud of! There were lots of personal touches this day including wheat from their family’s farm, a custom wooden cross, and a semi truck cake topper! Brooke was just ravishing in her fitted lace dress and I loved the guys’ different shades of grey for their suits. We had amazing lighting all day and got some gorgeous sun flares both for portraits right after the wedding ceremony and again for golden hour. This golden hour photo set is one of my favorites ever and they’ve done amazing in contests and online magazines all year! We even took an amazing truck burnout photo in the road. I was skeptical about it working out well, but they nailed it and the smoke was THICK. All of the dances took place out on the deck of the barn and that’s my favorite place to photograph them at! The special dances took place as the sun was starting to go down and the images turned out so lovely.
